In Palmerston school and college we are preparing our pupils for adult life which is why personal, social, health education (PSHE) and relationships and sex education (RSE) play an important part of our teaching and learning. It's vital that our pupils learn about their bodies and the changes that will come through puberty and growing up and how this can impact our throughts, feelings and actions.

Our PSHE and RSE curriculum is tailored to individual needs and pupils are taught according to ability and levels of understanding. In the pre and informal classes this may be done through a sensory based learning environment and not just during lessons, but throughout the school day. In our semi and formal curriculum PSHE and RSE are taught discreetly and the curriculum map can be found in the documents below.

We are also aware of how families my struggle to support their young person so we provide advice, guidance and support to families through training sessions, informal chats or signposting to resources and/or professionals.

As a parent you can request that your child is withdrawn from RE lessons/activities. Please contact the school if you'd like this to happen.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like more information or you are seeking some advice for your child.
